Notre Dame doesn't have enough money to purchase every book or journal, but we can usually borrow it from another library. It can take as little time as 24 hours or as long as 4 weeks.

Approval Profiles
Our approval plan vendor is Blackwell North America (BNA) . BNA has agreements with many publishers: commerical, society, and academic. We have created a profile of our subject interests and non-subject parameters. When a publisher sends BNA a book, BNA compares the book with our profile. If a book matches the subject interest and the non-subject parameters then it is shipped to Notre Dame for us view. If we like the book, we keep it and pay BNA. If we don't like the book we can return it and are charged nothing. Hence the name of approval plan. Our approval plan profile for Chemistry and Physics .
