SciFinder Scholar: 2007 (SFS-2007)

What is it? SciFinder Scholar is the search engine for Chemical Abstracts (1907- ) and Index Medicus, a.k.a.   MEDLINE, (1950- ). These abstracts index journals, patents, technical reports, books, conference proceedings, dissertations, and preprints.

Access Linitations:  University of  Notre Dame students, faculty, and staff can install the client software. The Chemistry Library has purchased 24-hour access for five (5) simultaneous users. The busiest times are afternoons during the week.

Remote access: Connect Securely From Off-Campus VPN

Three (3) options for searching SFS-2007:

1. Go to any Library computer.

Start-> Library Services -> Science & Technology -> Scifinder
Scholar -> Scholar 2007

(NB- This path does not work for computer-cluster computers.)

2.Install client on your Windows (98/2000/Me/NT 4.0/XP) computer.
            (released Aug 2005)

The most common installation problem is not placing the site.prf in the same folder as the application.

(NB - Older versions of SciFinder Scholar (SFS-2002, SFS-2004, & SFS-2004.1) were retired March 31, 2006.)

3. Install client on your Macintosh (OS X) computer.
            (released July 2006)

The most common installation problem is a corrupted site.prf file. Read the installation instructions for three methods to solve this problem
